I am a parent who’s child has needed previously needed surgery when they were a baby. Never were pre-op checks commenced at 11:30pm//midnight. Never was my child taken to the pre-op room the night before surgery!
Waking a sound asleep baby will have got Adrenaline racing AND negatively impacting both the baby and family. The Hippocratic oath requires FIRST do no harm THEN do good.
I graduated last century (so have many many years of clinical experience) - never in my career has a stable already hospital inpatient been woken from their sleep 11:30pm to get their adrenaline running, never in my career has a stable hospital inpatient ever been taken to pre-op room the night before 8-8.5 hours before surgery, and never in my career has a stable hospital inpatient had pre-op checks done 11:30pm the night before surgery when clinical and labs on minimal staffing overnight.
