Dan Picknell's Letter To New Zealand's Police Commissioner
The Former Policeman Calls For Andrew Coster To Resign From The NZ Police
ICYMI (In Case You Missed It !), last week FreeNZ released two interviews with former frontline Police Senior Constable Dan Picknell, who served the people of New Zealand for over 19 years. He, like Barry Young, is a courageous whistleblower who is standing up in order to help protect New Zealanders’ safety and wellbeing.
Dan wrote a letter, which you can read here, to New Zealand's Police Commissioner, Andrew Coster, calling for him to “do the right thing” and resign from the police, after what has been an appalling run during the destructive Covid Mandates’ Era in New Zealand.
You can read Dan’s letter on the NZDSOS website.
The police response, obtained under OIA, to Dan's open letter can be read at this link - https://docdro.id/RTjnAyT
For Dan, his story begins when the Covid ‘crisis’ began. Something didn’t seem right to Dan, once the lockdown and covid restrictions began to be enforced by police who were acting under the new and extreme regime brought in by Jacinda Ardern’s Labour government.
As he says, “I asked supervisors - “Why are we doing this?” ”.
“It’s about telling people to do what they’re told.” was the startling response.
As an ethical and upstanding policeman who carried out his work in his community with care and empathy, Dan could see how the locals were starting to suffer, with many people’s mental health taking a downward turn, and stress, drinking, violence and family trauma noticeably on the increase.
Dan wrote a full Report to his superiors, outlining his myriad concerns. He even asked them to take his complaint to the Serious Fraud Office, if they refused to undertake a full review of his Report themselves.
Dan told them that he “had taken an Oath to serve the best interests of the People,” and on that basis, he resiled from any further need, as a police officer, to force compliance of the Covid Response Act, since it was clearly not serving the People’s best interests.
In fact, his truth-telling Report was his courageous and clear way of honouring his Oath to Kiwis to serve them.
The response he received was that “The Police won’t be investigating further”.
Dan refers to Andrew Coster’s repeated motto of “Be first, then do” but he, like others in the police, found the meaning of that unclear, confusing, and ultimately unhelpful.
Dan also discusses the way in which a Police Commissioner is appointed in New Zealand, through approval from the Prime Minister’s office, and he highlights the clear conflict of interest in such a procedural weakness. “It fees like a political appointment to some degree”.
Meantime, Dan was researching, and hearing about, the grave risks associated with the Covid vaccine. When put alongside the lack of transparency from the government about the risks and adverse outcomes of the jab, Dan felt it was deeply disturbing. Furthermore, he simply didn’t comprehend why the apparent primary goal for the police was to remove the freedom of New Zealanders, “in order to get compliance, to achieve their objective, which was mass vaccination of our population. And giving us no other options.”
“It’s completely wrong.”
There was understandable, and growing, frustration from Dan that the police were disinterested in both his Report, and in a secondary personal email which he sent directly to Commissioner Coster. In that email, he again outlined his meticulously researched concerns and the evidence of harms being caused by the jab rollout. The email was completely ignored by Commissioner Coster. Dan’s concerns continued to fall on deaf ears within the upper echelons of the police.
Hearing Dan speak of his many attempts to dialogue and to register serious evidence of jab harm with his superiors, it’s easy to wonder if those upper management levels have forgotten that the New Zealand police are meant to exist as a safeguard for the People? They should not exist as policy enforcers for the voted-in government of the day. Quite the contrary. They should always be willing to question a government and to cross examine them on any serious concerns the People have. They should be on the lookout for any sign of defalcation by a government whose actions indicate that it is beginning to go rogue. No government should ever be above the Law, and especially not a corrupted government. Has Andrew Coster forgotten these fundamental tenets?
Dan bravely refused to take part in the Covid mask mandate, citing an exemption he had acquired for valid reason. He operated under this exemption for some months during Covid, with no issues. However, a subsequent directive from the Police Commissioner instructed that all police officers were to wear masks, or else they would no longer be allowed to work.
When he stood his ground on the basis of reputable world scientific research that showed the utter ineffectiveness of masks to protect from microscopic viral particles, he was told he couldn’t come back to work, as he was a danger to other people. He then had to continue working from home.
One very positive spinoff of being true to his own moral code and following the ethically brave and correct choices, in an increasingly totalitarian situation, was that Dan realised he would not later find himself suffering regret over ever submitting to such unreasonable and, it now turns out, dangerous government coercion and over-reach. The true cost of non-compliance with government wrongdoing, is a rise in self-esteem!
The inane rules, and bullying mandates, lacked a base of true reason or scientific logic. All of it, we now see, was to help build a New Zealand society with top-down control in which once-free Kiwis could be forced into compliance with governmental edicts, against their wishes or free choice.
The downside of standing up means it has cost Dan immensely in his personal life, as it has for every brave soul who has taken a courageous stand against tyranny. Dan speaks of a special work colleague who, despite the pressures to pay his huge mortgage, and with two young children to feed, still refused to be forced into taking the jab.
This is in stark contrast to those many Kiwi police officers who made the sorry choice to abandon their moral code, despite some of them saying that they intended to stand with the Wellington protestors in early 2022. Instead, they decided to put their pay packets and their careers ahead of the rights and freedoms of a huge swathe of New Zealanders, and for many of them, ahead of their own children’s futures.
“When you know you’re doing something that’s wrong, you need to actually try and be brave enough to say ‘I’m not doing it’. ”
“We have to learn to not comply, and say: We’re not having this again.”
At certain points, throughout the later stages of the mandates, Dan was allowed back at the police station, but he was not allowed to interact with the public, even if they were vaccinated against Covid.
After the date that was designated for full compliance with the vaccine mandates, Dan chose to resign from his job and that was an experience which Dan recalled as “a really unpleasant way to leave the Police”, after his 19 years of dedicated service.
Dan decided to attempt to communicate his concerns for one more time, supplying his police boss with a significant bundle of evidence about the dangers of the Pfizer vaccine.
Instead of reading and responding to the evidence of danger in the jabs, the police responded with a cowardly tactic of simply resorting to labelling him. They used the refuge of the unoriginal and unintelligent, who resort to personal or ‘ad hominem’ attack in order to avoid discussing the substance of the complaint. They reduced Dan to being an ‘anti-vaxxer’ who had lost his job and was now trying to cause trouble. Further, Dan found out that the police had not even bothered to examine the information he had supplied, most of which was directly sourced from the WHO, official, ‘Vaccine Injury Reporting’ site. Dan’s research was always thorough, and from the most credible sources, and yet the police showed total disinterest.
Never one to give up easily, Dan tried to reach out again, at a later date. He sent one further email to the Police, saying, “Here’s a chance for redemption. You’ve contributed to the death of many people in the country through your negligent behaviour.” He challenged them to act in accordance with the Law and to actually investigate what was going on under the jab rollout.
He received no response from the police, to any of his many emails.
Away from the official channels however, Dan was told by some of these ‘leaders’ within police that they privately thought he may actually be in the right, in expressing his concerns. The weak betrayal of courage and morality in that covert praise of Dan, was followed up with a pathetic piece of ‘encouragement’, with one officer saying that, if Dan was proved right one day, he could at least then say “I told you so” ! Such a bizarre and grossly irresponsible assurance to Dan from someone who was clearly unable to comprehend the large scale and the severity of the damage and death that has been inflicted in the wake of the dangerous Covid 19 response rollout.
This kind of compromised mindset can be traced back to the ‘leadership’, and the questionable moral standards, direct from the man at the top. Early in the interview, Liz Gunn used the metaphor of a fish that rots from the head down, to underline that Andrew Coster has been seen by many Kiwis to have severely let down New Zealand with his negligence, and his lack of morality and humanity and care for the People.
Towards the end of this important discussion, Dan Picknell sends a brave personal message, down the camera, to Andrew Coster, addressing the unceasing harm to which he has directly contributed, and asking that he urgently resign as New Zealand’s Commissioner of Police as he is unsuitable for such a crucial position at this - or any - time in New Zealand’s history.
POL 47 - Changes Made To The Police Sudden Death Reporting Form - WHY?
In our second interview with Dan, he blows the whistle on a change made to the POL47, which is the Police Sudden Death Reporting form.
Dan used an Official Information Act (OIA) request, to question why such changes were made in the early stages of Covid 19 being declared a worldwide ‘pandemic’ by the World Health Organisation, whose primary funder if the Gates Foundation and Bill Gates.
His first question was:
‘What date was the Police Sudden Death Report form, known as POL47, amended to include information from the deceased person’s medical background -including their COVID-19 vaccination status, the number of doses administered to that deceased, the batch numbers of the doses administered, who administered those doses, and on what dates those doses were administered?’
The answer from Police to Dan’s OIA, was:
The POL47 form was amended in May 2021, with a further amendment made in August 2021.
Dan followed up with an important secondary question:
‘Please provide any correspondence documented internally in NewZealand Police and/or between any other interested agency or organisation or person outside of New Zealand Police that has directed New Zealand Police to specifically record COVID-19 vaccination data when someone dies.’
The answer from Police to Dan’s secondary question, was:
This part of your request is refused under section 18(e) of the OIA, as no such direction exists. A request was made verbally by Ministry of Justice as to whether Police could capture this information. A subsequent request was made verbally by a pathologist to the Chief Coroner if the location of where the vaccine was administered could be captured by Police on the POL47 form.

Dan is anti-corruption and anti-violence, and a strong advocate for telling the People the Truth. This situation has asked much of him, including the moral duty to step up and tell his story publicly in order to build more awareness in the public sphere about the true culture of the New Zealand Police.
We thank Dan for his bravery and morality in taking this stand for the People of New Zealand.
Barry Young & Dan Picknell Interview
Most recently, Liz spoke with Barry Young (https://twitter.com/BarryYoungNZ) & Dan Picknell. Both brave whistleblowers meet in this interview to speak about their recent experiences of standing up for truth and transparency.
The only police who are worthy of employment are sadly those who are not now, due to having the intelligence to avoid being murdered by poison, however slow acting it is.
My question would be - who do you want investigating a murder, those too blind or compromised to see it happening to themselves, or those intelligent enough to avoided it?...
The evidence is now everywhere and in every family, even the unjabbed.
A heartfelt thank you Sir Dan for your intelligence, morals and ethics. Bravo.
It is obvious that 'woke' is the greatest and most dangerous disease to afflict mankind ...
I told the NZ Police 18 months ago that the NZ Police Commissioner is 'lobotomized' ... I told them, for the umpteenth time, last week that they were idiots, and they are ...
